Seas the day

The lockdowns have opened up and so has the route to free-willy traveling again. What’s more? April and May have at least one long weekend each, which makes it the perfect time to get away – finally!

But know what? Packing for a trip – finally, after the long couple of COVID years – makes it a little tricky. Even for those of us who had our bags ready to go at a moment’s notice, the lack of travel means more shopping. Or at the very least, more planning.

Let’s start you off with some basics:

Rule number 1:

Crack the mystery

It might be just a long weekend, but if you are hitting the beach, you need twice as many clothes. And since it is a vacation, we really don’t want to live by the clock and make itineraries, right? So let’s just take a look at what you could possibly be doing.

If it is the beach, you are going to be on the beach. This means swimsuits, trunks, sarongs, beach cover-ups, hats, sunscreens, a couple of additional t-shirts, and loose pants. Think of quick-dry and light items, which take up lesser space.

If you are in a beach town, evenings and nights are about parties or lovely romantic dinners. While you might not want to get into something fancy, pack something fun, which you wouldn’t ever wear in your hometown.

And this is the one time we break our own rule and instead of telling you to remove a couple of things, we say ‘thrown in a couple of extra t-shirts’

Rule number 2:

Waterproofed secret

While code wet is cool at the beach, it can be quite a tick-off once the sun has set and the swanky hotel room door has been unlocked. Dripping water on that dry floor can send the temperatures off the roof, especially with OCD partners nearby. It is essential to Invest in a couple of ‘almost’ life-saving waterproof beach bags and then sit back and relax. Well, almost! Make sure that the wet clothes are separated and either washed and dried properly before being packed up again or if in a hurry, on Day 3 of your checked-out trip, stuff the bikinis and trunks in wet bags and make sure they are the first thing leaving your bags once home or in near sight of a washing machine.

Rule number 3:

Accessories, your best friend

Holidays are undeniably fantastic opportunities to find the insanity and fun we desire, but before we go that route, it’s important to know our companions. While stilettos may be your best pal on a date night, they can be the opposite during the beach vacation. Ditch them, make new friends with easy-go-luck flip-flops, and later on, don’t shy away from flaunting that foot tan. List out the ideal beach accessories that can make you swoosh from fad and fab. Think both functional yet attractive while shopping for your weekend-travel accessories. Hat, scarf, and sunglasses may sound like add-ons but are a total investment in the hot beach sun.

Rule number 4:

Bags, bags, baby!

No trip is ever executed without the right bags. They are utility, they are fashion statements, and they can be life saviors. From airport bags to backpacks, waist packs, beach walk slings, or even shopping totes. But carrying so many bags on a short trip may not be a very wise idea. To cut the story short, carry compacts. Collapsible bags that can fit in the tiniest corners of your luggage and open up as life-saving parachutes in the need of the hour. While flying back, if you exceed the weight limit, just book a slot on carterX and we will be at your service.

Rule number 5:

Important, this one

Let’s admit it, we have all done it at some point in our traveler life. Using the same backpack or shoulder sling for the day-long beach trip, cash, cards, snacks, water bottle, some important papers, wallet, books, exposed sunglasses, shopped goodies and what not! All in the same jumbled-up order. And then lost or left behind one important thing that may be replaceable but will hit the head for days to come. The new year is for new beginnings, and thy shall always remember that. Don’t mix up cash, card, IDs, and documents with those wafer packs and Red bull cans.

Rule number 6:

Sail with your pack

Last but never least. Sail with your pack and not just anybody, anywhere. Holidays, especially long weekends at the beach are fantastic opportunities to find a mix of insanity and fun but for the experience to be truly stress-free and hassle-free, make sure you have the right company. Small known circles rather than large groups may be a good idea to unwind from the hectic week. Flying solo is even better!

While we may not be able to lend a helping hand while packing your beach bags, we can surely make sure that your ‘N’ number of bags reach their final destination right on time before the much-worthy dip. We can also definitely give you a sneak peek into our little guidebook that reads out the list of rules to attain ‘packing’ nirvana.

Until we SEA again,

Hasta La Vista!
